Mother's Day 2010

Beautiful weather here in Silver City and only 11% humidity. The nights are still in the 40's - that's why I come here in the summer. I spent part of my day cleaning five cabins, one lodge and both bathrooms. Not exactly how I would have chosen to spend it but you do what you gotta do.

Kim, my daughter in Washington state sent me a beautiful bouquet of roses. I forgot to let her know I'm currently in New Mexico so my rentor called to let me know I had received them.

I'm waiting for Mary, one of the forum ladies, to get her today. We'll have dinner and then she's off to her workamping job. At least she'll be here long enough to get her Flamingo glass.

Finally a Sunny Day

The weather here has been so cold and WINDY and we actually had some snow flurries the other day. Today (and yesterday) were sunny, in the 70's and the normal New Mexico light winds. After I got off work I loaded Sophie into the car and we went for a drive. Went to the nearby cemetery to see Billy the Kid's mother's grave. The founder of Silver City is also buried there - "Killed by Indians". Then we drove to Pinos Altos and walked around a bit. Off the next two days - may take a picnic lunch and Sophie to Lake Roberts. Its nice to have a little dog who actually enjoys going in the car with me. Buddy can never get his balance in the car and Sassy jumps from the front to the back to the front, etc, etc. Drives you crazy.

Brrrrr

Not much going on here. The weather has been cold and very, very windy; gusts to over 50mph. The back end of my rig really rocks and rolls in the wind - good think I don't get seasick.

Was really sick for a couple of days - I think food poisoning. One of the other workampers walked my dogs. If I hadn't been so sick I would have laughed my head off. I'm used to juggling three leashes but he wasn't. The dogs completely wound him up in the leashes so he couldn't move. The dogs love when I'm sick - they like having me in bed with them ALL day except to walk and feed them. That way they right where I am all the time.

Work is going good - I'm not TOO tired when I'm done, so far. They've add two "lodges" complete with their own bathrooms and kitchens. We'll see how much more work that will add to my load.

Had lunch with a really nice gal I met on line, who lives here in Silver City. She took me to an out-of-the-way Mexican restaurant that was really great. It always takes a native to know the best places to eat.
